Objective of the workshop/seminar/activity:  to acquire knowledge about cloud computing, its creation and maintenance.

 

Description:

 

The Department of CS-IT organized a workshop on the topic of ‘Cloud Computing’ on 16th March’ 2018. The guest of the workshop was Mr. Chandrashekar,trainer, Indian Institute of Hardware Technology Jaipur with over 20+ years of experience in the respective domain. The workshop was attended by students of all semesters of BCA as well as the professors from the CS-IT department.

The workshop started with a very basic overview of what Cloud computing is and its need, then a plethora of options were discussed which provide cloud services on a daily basis to individuals. Then the prerequisites of creating and maintaining a cloud were discussed. This discussion further led to discussion on various types of operating systems capable of handling cloud hosting and how to install and run multiple operating systems on one device using a virtual box. Afterwards, the students saw the creation of a cloud in front of their eyes and then interacted further with them.

The workshop was very dynamic and interactive in nature which further intrigued all of the people present, both teachers and students. The tips and pointers provided for installing and creating various components were heavily appreciated by the students and were touted to be highly practical and usable in the future by the students for their future works. Overall the event was quite fruitful for the students and provided them with the basics of a highly employable skill.

 

Outcome of the activity/event/seminar/workshop: the students were made aware about the basics of cloud computing, its installation and tips and pointers regarding the same.
