Guest Lecture on Data Communication and Networking

The department of CS &IT of The IIS University conducted a guest lecture on August 5, 2013 on DATA COMMUNICATION & NETWORKING wherein Dr.Vijay Singh Rathore delivered a lecture about the Internet and its various connections. The topics covered were, what is internet, how does it work, what are its properties, etc. It was a very interactive session, where Dr. Rathore talked about many terms which are associated with networking like ports, FTP, IP address, firewall, etc.  He gave a demonstration through videos in which topics like working of internet, client – server relations, were covered. According to him, Internet is the Dawn of the net. People and machines are working together, realizing a dream, through internet. With the help of a story, Sir explained the concept of OSI model i.e. Open Source Interconnection in which he explained all the 7 layers of OSI model. He also gave some information about Domain Name Server (DNS), working of TCP/IP. Overall the session was very interactive and interesting.
