The Department of Computer Science & Information Technology was established in the year 1998. The department aims at ingraining the spirit of ingenuity, innovativeness and technical proficiency in the students through regular guidance and rigorous practice. Apart from teaching at graduate and postgraduate level, the faculty is also involved in research, consultancy and developing software.

Since 2007, the department has its own Board of Studies, for framing the curriculum. The suggestions from the staff, students, academic peers and subject experts are reviewed and updated regularly and new programmes are introduced with the approval of the BOS.

To promote research, Ph.D. and M.Phil. programmes were introduced from the year 2010. Admissions for the same are held through an annual entrance test (RET) conducted by the University.

The university has collaborated with CISCO to setup its network academy, with an aim to create a pool of trained networking specialist.
