Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) Primer

ICT Academy and AWS Academy (Amazon Web Services) jointly provided virtual training about “Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service(EKS) Primer” on 16th February 2021throughGoToWebinar platform. The webinar was about Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS) which is a managed service used to run Kubernetes on AWS without needing to install, operate, and maintain one’s own Kubernetes control plane or nodes. Kubernetes is basically an open-source system for automating the deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications.  The objective of the webinar was to acquaint the participants about the implementation of containers on AWS using EKS and complementary servicesThe webinar was based on introducing this concept to the participants. The webinar covered various topics in this aspect. Even the basics like explanation of containers and K8 dashboard interface was explained though which a Kubernets user can take up many things can be done. Informationregarding the deployment of pods was also given.

The webinar was of much worth because Amazon EKS can be integrated with many AWS services to provide scalability and security for user applications and it includes capabilities like Amazon ECR for container images, Elastic Load Balancing for load distribution, IAM for authentication, Amazon VPC for isolation.

Through the webinar variety of amazon tools were discussed considering multitude of user applications and needs like Amazon SQS and Amazon SNS for Decupling, AWS CodePipleline for CI/CD, Amazon CloudWatch for monitoring, AWS Secrets manager for Security to name a few.

The trainer specifically took up topics like end to end solution made with the help of k8, Different scheduling options in EKS and how pods communicate in EKS. He explained in detail the placement of pods in EKS. Also took up the process how Enforcing security in EKS with Kubectl, Kubernets API, and AWS IAM authenticator. The attendees were also given information about various versions of kubernets.

Throughout the webinar, live questions were asked to test the knowledge of participants which added life to the session and kept the participants interested. The webinar was very well planned and was delivered with perfection. Hence it led to knowledge attainment about Amazon EKS.
