Objective: 

To introduce Photography, history of photography. Elements and Principles of Photography and the functions of it.

Unit I: 

Brief history of photography and camera. Basic Characteristics of camera.

Types of Camera- SLR Camera, DSLR Camera, Film Camera.

Camera- Framing, focusing, exposure setting, shutter setting, menu setting in digital cameras.

Unit II: 

Types of photography- Documentation, Art, News, Advertisement, Scientific, Portraits, Product Photography.

Techniques of shooting photographs. Picture Composition.

Photography Optics; Types of photographic Lenses- Zoom Lens, Lens Extenders, Filters and Other Accessories.

Unit III: 

Photographic Lighting: Definition, Natural & Artificial Lighting; Three Point Lighting; Bounce Lighting, Special effects lighting.

Photographic Lights: Spot Light, Its characteristics & usage; Soft light, its characteristics & usage, reflectors, flashgun.

Unit IV: 

Digital Photography, Sensors, Pixels, Compression of data, Storage, Transmission.

Unit V: 

Motion picture photography (Cinematography) Movie camera, Semi professional Camcorder. Basic grammar of film making; techniques of taking a shot, continuity, techniques of basic editing.
