Brief history of Printing, Historical developments of printing processes. basic principles and characteristics. Evolution of Printing Technology till the modern era. Influence of printing process on design. Woodblock printing: In East Asia, In the Middle East, In Europe. Movable-type printing. The printing press. Rotary printing press. Printing capacity.

Letterpress, Offset, Gravure, Other printing techniques. Comparison of printing methods. Book Design: Effective Grid Design For The Book, Typography, Margins In Page Design, Laying Out Text And Images.

Application of Design Principles In Layout, Free Style Layout, Grid Design, Formats, Margins, Columns And Gutters, Page Depth, Working With Imagery, Borders And Rules.
