Objective: 

The main objective of the subject is to impart the basic Understanding of the methods and techniques of developing a web site.

Unit I: 

Introduction to history & structure of the internet. Modes of connecting to internet, search optimization on internet, applications of internet, introduction to World Wide Web (WWW). Hypertext Mark-up Language “View Source” browser option. Tags & attributes. Structure Tags (HTML, HEAD, TITLE, and BODY), Paired and unpaired tags, Ordered list, unordered list, formatting list, tables in HTML, formatting table, cell spacing, cell padding.

Unit II: 

Table structure and hierarchy, Browser differences. Making hyper links- anchor tag, images as link, Adding Images, Aligning the image Using Images as a link, Using Background images. Folder hierarchy – path, File Transfer Protocol (FTP). Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), Typography, Consistency, Types of styles, Specifying class within HTML document, Text rollovers.

Unit III: 

Web related functions of Photoshop: Tools, Functions, Shortcut keys, Layers Images. Placing, Resizing, Resolution, Optimizing, Color (RGB) (CMYK), Web Safe Colours. Slicing the page, saving & naming.

Unit IV: 

Introduction to Dreamweaver, Opening Files in Dreamweaver, The Menu Bar, The Document Window, The Status Bar, The Document Toolbar, Coding Toolbar, Set up a New Site, Creating a Root Folder, Adding Text on a Page, Formatting Text, Paragraphs, Line Breaks, Fonts, Color, Formatting Paragraphs, Creating Lists, Insert Special Characters, Inserting Images, Align Images, Add Border to an Image, Crop an Image, Resizing Images, Create Image Placeholders, Creating Links, Text Links, and Make an Image a Clickable Link, Make a Clickable Image that Enlarges When Clicked, Create an Email Link, Create Anchors and Jump Links, Creating Tables, Setting Table Properties, Placing Images and Graphics into Tables, Adding a Background Color. Creating a Basic HTML Form, Validation, Create Hints for Text Fields, Add a Validated Text Field, Add a Text Area, Add Checkboxes, Adding Radio Buttons, Adding List Menus, Creating a Submit Button.

Unit V: 

Creating a Website with Frames and Framesets, Create a Scroll Bar.   Designing with Cascading Style Sheets, Creating Style Sheets, CSS Code Format, The CSS Styles Panel and Editing Styles, External Style Sheets, Drawing AP Div Elements, Arranging Layers Using the Z Index, Hiding/Showing AP Div Elements, Nested AP Div Elements, Aligning AP Div Elements, Using Tables within AP Elements, Adding Background Images. Behaviors, Using the Behaviors Panel, Applying and Changing Behaviors, Changing Behaviors, Create a Pop Up Window, Working with Flash, Embedding SWF Files into a Dreamweaver Document, Adding Audio, and Video.
