Report on Cyber Awareness Workshop Series on 14th, 16th, 25th and 30th October 2021(Online)

 

IIS (deemed to be University) organized a series of Cybercrime Awareness workshops on 14, 16, 25 and 30 October 2021 in collaboration with Dr. CBS, Cyber Security Services Ltd. It was conducted as a part of Cyber Awareness Month-October, under the NCSAM 2021 theme “Do your Part. #BeCyberSmart”.

Day 1: An Introduction to Cyber Crime - General and Specific to Women and Children (14 October 2021)

Prof. K.S. Sharma, Adviser of the University, introduced Dr. C B Sharma to the audience.  Founder and CEO of Dr. CBS Cyber Security Services Ltd, Jaipur, Dr. CB Sharma IPS (Retd.) has over three decades of experience in crime investigation and more than a decade long experience in cybercrime investigation & cyber security. His technical and analytical bent of mind has gained him a variety of assignments such as SP Jaipur city, SP Jaipur rural, SP Dausa, SP special operational group, SP SCRB (Computer & Cyber Police Station), Dy. IGP Law & Order, Dy. IGP Intelligence & others during his tenure.

Mr Sharma initiated the talk by emphasizing the significance of Cyber Security. He quoted that the next World War will be only for Cyber Data. His talk focused on various facets of Cyber Stalking, Extortion and Spoofing.

Day 2: Workshop on Cyber Crime: Awareness and Preventive measures (16 October 2021)

On the second day, Dr. Sharma talked about Cyber Crimes and Cyber Forensics and discussed crime investigation case studies with the students. He explained different kinds of frauds which can possibly be faced by any one of us on the internet or on any digital platform. He also provided some prevention measures and tricks to the students and faculty members to keep themselves safe on the internet.

Day 3: Workshop on Hacking: e-mail, social media and website (25 October 2021)

The speaker, Dr. Sharma’s talk pursued the Privacy Policy for various freely available applications. He explained the usage of disposable Email Accounts and explained their importance . He discussed the NETIQUETTES – the network etiquettes, the do's and don'ts of online communication. He discussed both, the common courtesy online and the informal "rules of the road" of cyberspace. He also emphasized that the students of the Digital World must be equipped with proper knowledge about the job opportunities in this field. He also gave a very deep insight on various technical jobs for professionals in Cyber Security.

Day 4: Workshop on Cyber Laws and IT Act 2000 (30 October 2021)

Dr. Sharma’s talk concluded with the usage of security countermeasures from AdBlock Plus, Dumpster, ChatSecure.org, VirusTotal.com, do-not-track-me and others. The talk ended with an urge for ensuring Privacy and Security in Mobiles and Cyber World and taking precautions to safeguard against cybercrimes. He also discussed some laws and portals where we can report   cybercrime. Dr. Anubha Jain, HOD, presented the vote of thanks.
