E-Art Mix 2012

The Department of Computer Science & IT took an initiative of creating awareness on the burning Global issues and to promote Green Computing among the youth by organizing a competition “E-Art Mix” on September 27, 2012.

The competition was categorized in two categories- Poster-Making Competition & Utility Item-Making. The theme of Poster Making Competition was “Global Warming/Girl Child” and theme for Utility Item Making Competition was “Office/Home Utility item”.

Poster-Making Competition was a group activity and the motive behind it was to let the participants discover the connections between e-waste and the theme of the competition. All entries enclosed a positive and encouraging quotation enlightening the theme of the competition. In Utility Item making, participants used e-waste material for developing their product.

The main feature of both the events was to use  obsolete and discarded electronic devices such as memory card, CD, video tapes, RAM, wires, switches, floppies and telecommunication devices such as cellular phones, sim card, audio-video devices, etc. Students also used waste packing material and plastic waste.

The intent behind this event was to develop awareness regarding proper use and disposal of e-waste, proper recycling and it’s after effects and hazards.

Students modeled their creativity and imagination into alluring items such as working clock, show pieces, office diary, table lamp, lantern, and multi-purpose holder set etc.

Participants also pictured their thoughts by conveying the effects of Global Warming and the steps which should be undertaken to curtail the Global Warming risks for avoiding the consequences. Posters were also portraying the grief of harassed girl child and measures to prevent the worldwide issue.

The event was judged by Ms. Neha Tiwari, Ms. Sunetra Dutta, Ms. Amita Sharma the criteria of which was participant’s creativity & presentation, originality & resource utilization and relevance to the theme.
