Description:

The Department of Computer Science and IT organized a guest lecture on “Opportunities in Remote Sensing Centres” led by Ms. Jaya Saxena, Scientist E, National Remote Sensing Centre (NSRC), Hyderabad.

In this interactive session the students were given a brief description of the following:

Ø  What is NSRC?

Ø  Working and functionalities of satellites

Ø  Images manipulation

Ø  Brief of Chandrayan-2

The students were introduced to The National Remote Sensing Centre of Hyderabad. She also told them about what are the different job opportunities that they can get in remote sensing fields, how the images captured by satellites are manipulated using coding in order to receive information about different areas of our planet. She also briefed students about the mechanics behind Chandrayan-2.

At the conclusion of the session the query round was held in which the students got an opportunity to put forward questions to sate their curiosity. The overall session was enlightening and the students got an exposure on some new working areas in the space field.  The session ended with a thank you note by expressing gratitude to Ms. Jaya for taking out time from her busy schedule and making the students aware of coming opportunities.
