IIS(deemed to be University) in association with Spoken Tutorial, IIT Bombay organized a National Series on Student Development Programme (Self Paced) from 23 November to 18 December 2020. Orientation programme of each programme was conducted at the beginning of the programme. The participants were given access to a collection of videos related to the programme enrolled. The participants watched these videos and completed the assignments. As the series was self-paced, suggested time schedule was shared with the students to ensure timely completion of the programme.

First Programme of 10 days on Python Programming was launched from 23 November to 2 December 2020. 345 participants took part in the SDP across Nation. Two webinar sessions were conducted in this programme: 

Webinar 1- Orientation Programme: Student Development Programme on Python

Time: 9:45-10:30 pm

First webinar was conducted for the orientation of SDP on Python, lead by Dr. Ruchi Nanda, Associate Professor, IIS (deemed to be University), Jaipur. In this interactive session students were made familiar with the concepts of programming (especially the non-programmers). Students were also introduced to python and its utility for futuristic purpose. A brief description on Spoken tutorial platform and how to access the platform for learning Python were discussed.  At the end of the session the Q&A round was held in which the students got an opportunity to put forward questions to sate their curiosity and doubts. The overall session was enlightening and the students got an exposure on a new tool of learning.

Webinar 2: Troubleshooting Session: Student Development Programme on Python

Time: 1:30 – 3:30 pm

Self-assessment form was filled by the students prior to this webinar and based on the responses given by them, an interactive session was conducted, wherein the doubts were taken up. The session covered the following topics: Panda Libraries, Working in one or more plots and various plotting styles, working with Numpy, Matplotlib. The session ended with a satisfactory note and students were also made contented for any further discussion.

Second Programme of 10 days on R Programming was launched from 2 December to 11 December 2020. 317 participants took part in the SDP across Nation. A webinar session was conducted in this programme to orient the students in R programming.   

Webinar 3: Orientation Session: Student Development Programme on R

Name of Speaker: Ms. Surbhi Gupta

Date: 3-12-2020

Time: 3:00 – 4:00 pm

Students were introduced to R programming language, its history, importance and application areas. Students were elaborated about how a spoken tutorial platform can be used to learn R and details regarding installation of the software. Overall the session was interactive and students got an opportunity to learn new technologies altogether from such a good platform. The session ended with Query round and students got time to sate their curiosity.

Third Programme of 7 days on LaTeX was launched from 12 December to 18 December 2020. 262 participants took part in the SDP across Nation. A webinar session was conducted in this programme to orient the students in R programming.  

Webinar 4: Orientation Session: Student Development Programme on LaTeX

Name of Speaker: Ms. Meenakshi Singhal

Date:  12-12-2020

Time: 3:00 – 4:30 pm

Ms. Meenakshi Singhal, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, briefed the students about the basics of LaTeX, its history and importance. She also explained how the spoken tutorial platform can be used to get oneself acquainted with the software. The session ended with Query round and students got time to sate their curiosity.
