Online Lecture on:E-Learning Environments

A Public lecture Session was organized on “e-Learning Environments: New opportunities and challenges for students and universities”, on 23 February, 2013, from10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The students and faculty of the university attended this session through A-VIEW system.

Chief Guest for the public lecture session was Dr. Dinesh Kr. Paliwal , Member Secretary, NBA. Speakers from UK included Ms. Gwen van der Velden (University of Bath), Ms. Kyriaki Anagnostopoulou (University of Bath) and Dr. Stylianos Natzipanagos (Kings College London). They spoke about Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and Open Educational Resources (OERs). They also discussed the role and potential of social media in transforming learning and teaching in higher education. The session was interesting and it introduced the new facets related to the challenges in e-learning. It also highlighted the use of social media in education. Students learnt about the role of web sites in distance learning .They were also acquainted with the challenges in building interactive learning system and the responsibility of social media in distance education.
