Objective of the workshop/seminar/activity: to acquaint the students how to work upon data and information for social cause.

Description:

A Seminar was organized on 13 October 2018 by Prof. (Dr.) Balwinder Singh, Director and Professor- In- Charge, Data Analytics & Research, Guru Nanak Dev University on the topic ‘Sources of Data for Research: Management and Computer Science Perspective’ .

In this workshop the students were given a description on the following topics:

Ø  ‘Building blocks’ to integrate data and information

Ø  Categorizing data and information

Ø  Converting data to information

Prof. Balwinder Singh emphasized on the concepts of quantitative and qualitative data quoting its practical implications. He gave an insight to the students on the importance of integrating data and information management for Social causes.

This session was to help the participants to acquaint themselves with the blooming phenomenon in the Information ecoSystem. It gave the students insight on how to use and evaluate information and data. The participants found the session very enriching.

Outcome of the activity/event/seminar/workshop:  the students got insight on how to use and evaluate information and data.
