Report on Cyber Security & Cyber Law Orientation Programme

Objective of the Event:
A Cyber Security and Cyber Law session was organised on 8 September 2022 for all the students from the computer science department.
Dr. CB Sharma IPS (R.), Founder and CEO of Dr. CBS Cyber Security Services was invited to grace the orientation and brief the students about the course.
The event started with a welcome speech by the organisers. Later Dr. CBS took over the event and explained the concerns about cyber security. He highlighted the need for cyber security and cyber laws to protect the data because everything is on the Internet and a database is an important asset. Everything around us is becoming paperless due to which more and more people are becoming victims of cybercrime.
Several studies were shared with the students and they were further sensitized toward privacy and security of data. A recent study as shared which revealed that 70% of the profiles are fake, with the intent to collect information and personal data. The students were advised to not delete or block the evidence, instead, screenshots should be taken and the crime must be reported. The exploitation of vulnerability which is the information of the individual on the social media platforms should be kept personal and minimal and must be secured with strong passwords to avoid cybercrimes. The students were introduced to various terminologies like cyber, cyber-attack, cyberbullying, morphing, digital fraud, etc.
His session was concluded by sharing some tips for the safe use of computer resources. Also, a website to report cyber crimes was shared and a programme was introduced on cyber security which is a 3-month online course by Dr. CBS cyber security services keeping in mind the importance and its significance in the upcoming years. The students were told about the legal aspects of accessing the internet and the rules of using social media and gaming.
