Objective of three-day intensive workshop was to introduce students to industry-standard automation testing tools through practical, hands-on sessions.
The Department of Computer Science at IIS(Deemed To Be University), Jaipur, organized a three-day intensive workshop on “Automation Testing Tools” for the students of BCA. The workshop is taken by Mr. Shrey Bhargava. He is presently working with Salesforce at MIT position.
On the first day, the workshop began with an introduction to Maven, where participants learned about its role as a build automation tool. The session covered step-by-step installation and environment setup. Students also practiced executing Maven lifecycle commands The second session of day focused on XPath, teaching students how to write efficient locators for web elements. Through practical exercises, participants worked with both absolute and relative XPaths, learning best practices to avoid common pitfalls.
The second day was dedicated to Katalon Studio, where students installed and configured the tool. In the hands-on session, participants created their first test scripts, which included launching a browser, navigating to a URL, and verifying page titles. Debugging techniques were also demonstrated to help troubleshoot common scripting errors.
The final day introduced Eclipse IDE for automation scripting. Students set up Eclipse with Maven and learned to configure Maven projects within the IDE. The practical session involved developing a complete automation script that performed website launching and integration of Maven dependencies.
As Outcome, the workshop successfully bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and industry practices in automation testing. equipping participants with essential automation testing skills.
