Objective of the Event: To aware the students with cybercrime, cyber right & security and social media threats.
A virtual Oracle interaction on the topic “Cyber Bright - Cyber Right” was conducted by the department of CS and IT to spread awareness about cyber security on International Girls in ICT day 2022.
The session began with the presentation of Mrs. Kamal Peter, she informed the participants about ICT, and how we support and encourage girls by celebrating the ICT day. The session was held mainly to spread awareness about the security aspects of technology. She talked about the New Virtual World where everything is gone digital from friendship to crime and hence how one of us can be a victim of these cybercrimes.
The second guest of the session was Sreedevi Thririveedi. She gave a demo on how to keep our social media safe by applying simple privacy settings. She also talked about Cyber bullying, how cyber bullying effects a person mentally and physically and also informed the participants how to avoid cyber bullying and how can we use Law to prevent ourselves when the matter goes out of hand. She provided links to websites where we can complaint and report about the cybercrimes (cybercrime.gov.in, certi.in.origin and cyberswachhtakendra.gov.in).
The next guest of our session from the oracle was Mrs. Vanadana devi Rajamani. She informed us about the ways that will help us in password prevention, also about password hygiene and methods to create a good and strong password. She also talked about Location Sharing, App. appetite, and types of Phishing (Vishing, Spear phishing, Whaling, Smishing and Phishing).
Our last guest was Ms. Aarushi. She presented about Gaming diet, Screen Life Balance, Social media challenges and Safe Browsing.
The session consisted of interactive polls where participants were asked questions on certain cybercrime situations and how to handle them. The session ended by all the participants taking pledge to be an aware, informed and good digital citizen.
Outcome of the event: The students got to know about the Cyber Crime, Social Media ethics and best practices to use and Cyber Security.
