A guest lecture by Mr.Pawan Sharma, Principal-QA Manager at Metacubes Pvt. Ltd in Jaipur, was held on 4 Feb 2012 on the topic “Automation Testing and its Importance”. The lecture covered important points such as what is automation testing and what are its various advantages and disadvantages. Automation testing, we got to know means testing software projects without the use of manual labor as well as using automated scripts for performing repetitive but necessary tests in a formalized testing process. By using automation testing we can efficiently and economically test various projects.

Additionally, the lecture also covered topics such as when is automation testing necessary and when it can be avoided as well as what enhancements an automation specialist would bring to our testing process. Things to consider before using automation testing was also discussed briefly like: Cost and resources available for testing, stakeholders of the project, possibility and scope of including automation testing, and time saved via automation testing vs. manual testing.

The lecture was very informative and the students enjoyed learning about the various automation testing techniques and basic software available to improve the testing process.

A guest lecture by Mr. Sanjeev Agarwal, Asst. Prof at MNIT, Jaipur, was held on 3 rd Oct 2011 on the topic “Cracking Logics In Programming Languages”. The lecture covered points such as what is the importance of logic building in programming and how to improve one’s grasp of it.

The lecture was similar to an interactive session with various logic puzzles with increasing levels of complexity and how to solve them by using simple algorithms as well as how to look at these logic puzzle in different ways so that as to simplify the algorithms for solving the puzzles.

A huge reservoir of resources was also presented to us in the form of online tools, resources, and blogs along with a handful of books to help augment the learning process. The lecture was very useful and inspired a lot of the students to look for innovative and efficient ways to solve problems. The students especially enjoyed the intriguing puzzles and finding ways to solve them.

A guest lecture was organized on “Green Computing and Communication on New Generation Gadgets” by Department of CS & IT, IISU. The speaker for the lecture was Prof. D.P Sharma who is a leading researcher and academician in the area of computer science and IT. He is currently a consultant with ILO, UN at Geneva, and has received many awards and medals.

The session covered the concepts about cloud computing and communication. How mobile devices are a major part of our life? How much we are using the phone? Effects & harms caused by electronic gadgets. It was a very interactive session where Prof. D.P Sharma also discussed about other topics such as Green phone, computing in communication and damage caused by a sending unnecessary emails.

According to him a simple way to define cloud computing is one on which you can get each and everything as a service. He also discussed about the advancement of technology and at the same time about its resulting into environmental hazards. At last he suggested “Be aware, be focused, be careful and try to use your electronic devices to green member. There are two aspects of technology: I) is positive and ii) Negative. Business people are not worried about you. They are just worried about how to make money by hook or by crook.”It was a learning and interactive session for the students.

On 23 July,2016 a guest lecture was organized by the CS & IT department . The lecture was guided by Prof. Reena Dadhich from Kota University. Prior to that she has a vast experience in the field of Cs, education and research. She specializes in network security, mathematical modeling, data analysis. The lecture was conducted on the topic ’System and Networking';. She briefed the students about the concepts related with computer system ,Network system, Amplifier etc. It was an enlightening session as she shared real life experiences. She focused on various aspects related on types of network, its uses, Up & down stream frequency ,linking the system through wired or guided etc.

It was a learning and interactive session for the students where she answered all the queries put up by the students to their full satisfaction.

The Department of CS & IT organized ‘Ad- Mad Show 2016’ on April 2, 2016 for the students of BCA and B.Sc. (H) MM & A. The event was coordinated by the students of BCA Sem II. The students were divided into teams of 5 to 6 students. There were 15 teams. The activity involved students exploring their capability of creating a mock ad to sell IT Products ranging from Cellphones to Anti-virus software and next- gen computers. All the teams had to prepare an act within the time limit of 3 to 5 minutes. In between the acts there were quizzes to be solved by the audience. Whosoever gave the correct answer was rewarded by a chocolate.

Ms. Neha Tiwari and Dr. Amita Sharma were the esteemed judges of the ‘Ad- Mad Show 2016’. They announced the winning teams and added their words of wisdom making the students feel motivated and inspired.

This is to inform all BCA and BSC (H)-MM & Animation students that the Department of Computer Science and IT is organizing an event “AD-MAD SHOW” on 1st April, 2016 Friday in “AV-HALL” from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

This event will provide a platform to showcase one’s creativeness and talent to advertise an IT product (for e.g: pen drives, keyboard, mouse, etc.). The participant team can be minimum of 1 member and maximum of 5 members. The team has to select their own topic and can use props to perform the act. 3 to 5 min will be provided to perform an enactment. Each act will be judged on the basis of creativity, innovation and clarity of the idea.

Objective of the workshop/seminar/activity: to give a hands on experience of working on JQuery and Web Development for effective web designing

 

Description:

 

A workshop was held on 21 March, 2016 on Jquery and Web Development. It was organized by DUCAT Academy, Jaipur. The presentations were Mr. Rohit Jain, Senior Web Designer and Mr. Rakesh, Web Designer, DUCAT Academy, Jaipur. The topics included were Elementary Concepts of Jquery, brief introduction about PHP and Wordpress. The presentation was very interactive as it had theory as well as hands on sessions.

The first session included Jquery concepts which included syntax, selectors, events, methods, HTML and CSS manipulation. The second session started with the introduction of PHP, XAMPP, CMS, Apache, MySql and continued with the detailed website as well as application development through Wordpress. Different terminologies which included pages, posts, themes, plugins and widgets were discussed. The final session was the practical session wherein we created a web page through Jquery. In the end, queries and future aspects of technologies covered in the workshop were discussed. This was a very enlightening and informative session which cleared the air about the upcoming scope in Web Development.

 

Outcome of the activity/event/seminar/workshop: the students got a hands on experience of working on JQuery PHP and Wordpress, which are used for effective web design and development.
