On 26 August 2013, Mr. Neeraj Goel, Global Team Lead, Accenture, Michigan visited the Department for delivering a Workshopt on Industry Expectations from IT Graduates - Be career Ready coordinated by Ms. Anubha Jain, Head of the Department. The objective of the workshop was to talk about the Industry Expectations from IT Graduates thereby clearing the interview and placement related queries, such as, preparation, process, points to remember, etc. The target group of students were those pursuing BCA & MSc-IT courses at the University. The sesion met all the expectations and students were highly benefitted.

Objective of the workshop/seminar/activity: to acquaint the students with asp.net which the most sought after technology for project development.

Description:

A two-day workshop on Asp.net was organized in the CS & IT department from April 4th 2014 to April 5th 2014. Mr. Pankaj Gupta, Sr. Software Developer, National Information Centre(NIC), Jaipur was the speaker on both the days. BCA students of the department develop software as major projects in the VI semester and the most commonly chosen platform for this is ASP.net. Thus this workshop was attended by much enthusiasm and fervor by the students. The speaker started with basic concepts by giving a live demo of all the concepts. The last session was a query resolving session where he answered the questions of all students with patience. As this platform has a major practical implementation, the students benefited much by attending this workshop.

Outcome of the activity/event/seminar/workshop: the students learned about the importance and working of asp.net for project development.

On 29th March Mr. J.P. Soni, Asst. Professor, Jaipur National University, Jaipur gave a lecture on “Logic Families”. He briefed the students about Logic families which are a set of techniques used to implement logic within VLSI integrated circuits such as central processors, memories, or other complex functions. The lecture was very beneficial for BCA II semester students.  It was helpful in building the concepts of digital electronics in a very easy and interactive way. The students were gained a lot by attending this lecture.

The Department of CS & IT organized a one-day workshop on widely used technology PHP (Hypertext Pre-processor) which is used for dynamic Website design. It was held on 22 February 2014 in the CIT Lab and was coordinated by Ms. Anubha Jain.  Mr. Somesh Soni, Web Designer, Auriga IT solutions visited the University and explained various aspects of PHP, its uses and importance. He also shared his knowledge about database connectivity and extraction of data from database to a form. He enlightened the students with his vast industry experience and resolved their project- related queries. It was a very useful lecture for the final year batch which proved to be highly succesful in clearing all confusions related to this technology.

On February 15th 2014 Prof.  R.K.Singhla, H.O.D., School of Computer Science & Applications, Punjab University, Chandigarh visited the department.  Prof. R.K. Singhla interacted with the research scholars and P.G. students of CS & IT department on the role of open source software in research. He emphasised upon the use of various open source software that are useful in research. He also discussed the criteria for selection, updation, implementation & formalization of the same.  The lecture covered the scope of open source technologies, their usage, advantages, limitations and various other aspects. The scholars and students were highly benefited by the session.

On January 7th 2014, AView Lecture on Address by Honorary President of India was organized. The students of BCA & MSc attended the lecture. Through the Aview setup the students attended the online session wherein the Honorary President of India gave his new year speech. The students were motivated by listening his speech.

On January 24th 2014 the students of MSc & BCA visited Techvista Pvt. Ltd, Jaipur. It was an initiative under the Microsoft Research Programme. The Workshop was organized by Microsoft officials. Various sessions were conducted based on topics like how research should be undertaken , what are the current research rends in the fields of database, Artificial intelligence etc. The workshop was a learning experience.

On August 17th 2013 a PowerPoint Presentation competition was organized. It was a group activity wherein the students participated in a group of two. The first round was mandatory wherein all the students of the department had to participate.  The final round was on 7th September 2013. The winners were Apeksha & group

On December 17th 2013, the students of MSc & BCA had a field visit to Girnar Soft Tech Pvt. Ltd. Jaipur. The students were enthusiastically welcomed by them. The field study was a learning experience for the students. They were acquainted by the process of project development i.e. how one should set the objectives, how the initial investigation should be undertaken how testing is conducted etc. The field visit was a very learning one.

Orientation Programme on CCNA Certification Course

 

An orientation programme on CCNA certification course was conducted by Shveta Parnami, Sr. Asst. Prof., department of CS and IT, on 22nd August 2013 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am in Lab B.

The programme aimed to aware the students about the growing demand of network administrator across the globe and how the CCNA certification will help them to appear for these jobs.

The students were explained that how the course will help them to master the numerous components of CCNA certification. Mastery of these components is necessary for the students seeking careers within the IT industry.

The CCNA designation validates the ability to install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot medium-size route and switched networks, including implementation and verification of connections to remote sites in a WAN. CCNA curriculum includes basic mitigation of security threats, introduction to wireless networking concepts and terminology, and performance-based skills.

CCNA course cover topics like Virtual local area networks, static routing, Internet protocol access, virtual private networks, IPv6, troubleshooting.
