This is to inform the students of M.Sc.(IT) III Sem that the project viva of MIT 328 is scheduled on 18- Dec- 2013 at 12:30 pm in Lab A.They are required to appear for the same with their project reports, CD and presentations at 12:00 noon sharp, failing which they will not be allowed to appear for the project viva.

This is to inform all the students of the IIS University that the department of CS & IT is organizing a 5 day workshop ‘Anima- Tech 2’ based on the traditional methods of Animation and its latest trends. The workshop will include designing a flipbook, concepts of character designing and storyboarding along with an in-depth knowledge on Adobe Flash.

The activity will be organized in Srijan Hall as well as Computer Lab B, across the bridge. Interested students can register themselves at the reception latest by 24th August 2013, till 3:00 p.m. Registration fees is Rs. 500/-

Attendance will be mandatory for all the registered students. Certificates will be provided only to those students who complete the workshop from 26th August 2013- 31st August 2013.

Tentative schedule of the workshop is listed below, along with the materials the students have to get for themselves for sure.

AN ANIMATION WORKSHOP FOR THE STUDENTS

Objective:- Introduction to Traditional Animation Techniques alongwith animation techniques in Flash

Activities:-

Day 1

Introduction to Flipbook.

Its origin, and evolution.

How is it created?

What is its significance?

Introduction to Character Designing

Basics of Character Designing and Development

Simple character development

Simple character’s expression chart

Exercises based on both the concepts will be attempted by the students.

 

Day 2

Introduction to Storyboarding

Storyboarding and its concepts

Camera Angles and Perspective

Difference between Storyboarding, Graphic Novel and Comics.

A quick hand drawn gag in the style of comics or storyboards by the students

 

Day 3

Quick introduction to Adobe Flash.

Its interface and tools’ properties

What is timeline?

What is motion tween and shape tweeen?

Motion Guide and Masking

 

Day 4

Basic exercises- sunrise, sunset, moving car, ball bouncing etc.

Students will also work on these exercises along with the mentor.

 

Day 5

Converting the flipbook into digital animation with complete actions and colors.

All the students are informed that the Department of CS & IT is organizing a “PowerPoint Presentation Competition”. It is a group activity and students can participate in a group of two. It has two rounds. In the first round, participation of the students (from all the classes) is mandatory. The winners of the first round will compete in second round. The first round shall be completed till 17th August. The date of final round of competition will be announced afterwards. The rules and regulation of the competition for first round are displayed below. For any other queries, students can contact Ms. Ruchi Nanda and Ms. Sukriti Dev Verma.

 

Rules and Criteria for PowerPoint Presentation Competition

  1. The first round is an open-ended round. The student can choose a topic of her own choice for the presentation.
  2. The main theme for the final contest will be declared after the first round.
  3. The presentation should be fun, motivational and inspire students to discover the connections between theme and presentation.
  4. All presentation entries must include the aforementioned theme or a creative quotation related to the above, in English.
  5. It is a group activity. Students will participate in a group of two.
  6. The presentation should contain not more than 6 slides.
  7. The presentation time will be 5 minutes.
  8. The PPT  should include:
    1. Name
    2. Class and Semester

All the students are informed that the Department of CS & IT is organizing a “Sudoku Master Competition”. It is a group activity and students can participate in a group of two. It has three rounds. The winners of the first round will compete in next rounds. The competition is scheduled on 21st August 2013 at   9:30 am in Lab A. Interested students can give their names to Ms. Deepshikha Bhatia and Dr Amita Sharma till 20th August 2013 before 4:00 pm. Entries will be entertained on first come first serve basis. The rules and regulation of the competition are displayed below.

Rules and Regulation of Sudoku Master Competition

 

  1. A Sudoku puzzle contains a 9X9 grid, which comprises nine 3X3 sub-grids (also called as boxes or blocks). Some of the entries in the grid are filled with numbers from 1 to 9 or character, whereas other entries are left blank.
  2. A Sudoku puzzle is solved by assigning numbers from 1 to 9 to the blank entries such that every row, every column, and every 3X3 sub-grid contains each of the nine possible numbers 1 to 9.
  3. Pattern of sudoku puzzle as follows:
    1. Round I: numeric (easy)
    2. Round II : character (medium)
    3. Round III: numeric (difficult)
  4. Time limit of each round is as follows:
    1. Round I: 5-8 min
    2. Round II: 8-10 min
    3. Round III:10-15 min
  5. The submitted solution will be judged on the time limit and accurate solution
  6. Contestant  found cheating or messaging passing during the session will be disqualified

The department of Computer Science and Information Technology arranged an interactive learning session called "ABCD Of Life". It took place on 24 July 2013, in AV Hall. Ma'am Deepika Kaurani conducted it with great enthusiasm. The students of CS & IT participated in the session passionately. The session was an undoubtedly valuable experience as it paved a way for the students to deal with the deep realities and mixed occurrences which everyone faces in their lifetime. Students and teachers shared and learned from different experiences of each other's life. A fun-filled activity called "Antakshari" was arranged and students were divided into teams. Each team was given different letters. Songs were sung and enjoyed. Each letter had a wonderful connotation and essence regarding life. The audience was inspired, ecstatic to know such amazing facts about life. The session ended up to be wonderfully informative and thought-provoking.
